What is a 'Health Walk'?

A ‘Health Walk' is: -

  •    A safe led walk to improve health
  •   A walk on surfaces suitable for wheelchairs,  pushchairs and walking aids
  •    A walk on flat or on low level inclines
  •    A walk with no or limited obstacles such as steps and stiles
  • Walks targeted at inactive people
  •  A walk where the pace and length of the walks are planned to suit the pace of the walkers, so that all walkers can walk at their own pace.
  • Short 'health walks' up to 2 miles or up to an hour
  •  Longer 'health walks', as above, but over 2 miles
  • A walk led by 2 walk leaders, one at the front and one at the back.  Both play a key role in managing the 'health walk'.
